All right now is when you want to give your living room a makeover and are wondering how to start it – here are a few tips for you. You can in fact quite a lot of ideas and tips here. Now redecorating also means that you have to decide whether you want to do away with some or most of your old stuff or use them all in your new remodeled living room.  If you think you can you them still then go ahead and do that if not do no hesitate to sell them at a furniture auction – you will be surprised at the money you get for it!

The First step of course is to take a look at the furniture. Take an inventory of these. Discard those that have gone out of fashion or those that you have actually begin to hate over the years. The idea is to have less and less of clutter. Do not have anything that is not going to have any use in your living room.

The next thing for you to do is to pin point that part of your room that is going to be the focal point. This could be many things. In most living rooms today the focal point is the large screen TV set.  Now all your furniture should be arranged in such a way as to provide enough comfort to view the TV. There are other focal points too – in some houses it could be the view from the window. If this is so, make sure that all the seating arrangements are done in such a way as to allow for this beautiful view.

The next thing for you to do is to choose the wall colors and the fabric colors for your upholstery. Plan it out in paper and pen, take the help of an interior decorator and imagine how it would look for real. A professional eye more often than not can see some incongruities that a other cannot!
