Optimise Your Apartment Balconies

by

One of the very attractive features of apartments is the balcony. Balconies in high rise and skyscraper apartments afford a magnificent view of the city at large.

This is the place one can sit back and relax in solitude or have a private gathering of family and friends and observe the milling crowds of busy city dwellers going about their business. This is why one can and must create a beautiful decor for the balconies that can be stylish, elegant and comforting.

Balconies could be large or small. Many apartment dwellers unfortunately choose the balcony as a mere dump yard like a garage in an independent house. All I can say here if this is the case, it is one of most beautiful of living spaces wasted. Now what can one do make the balcony a part of the decor scheme? Plenty. You should first and foremost make a kind of seating arrangement here – something rather informal and yet neat and tidy. If you have a small balcony, make the decor. Also remember your furniture is going to be exposed to inclement weather and hence there is no point in going for expensive stuff here. Try and get some furniture that is waterproof – could plastic reclining chairs and tables. You can always add cushions to these chairs which can be removed and placed in the apartment when not in use or when the weather turns bad like too much of sun, snow or rain.

Balconies are ideal to keep indoor plants. You can actually have a veritable garden here. But then again if you like to use the balcony to read your morning paper or relax in the evenings there with a glass of drink or perhaps take your favorite novel to read there, don’t clutter it with too many plants. This again depends on the size of the balcony. Do have plants but also have enough leg room for you to relax there without the fear of tripping on the flower pots!
